Course Description:
As implant therapy becomes increasingly commoditized, we must be conscious not to let our ambition outrun our ability. Those involved in the surgical, restorative, and maintenance phases of implantology may have a Significant impact on the longevity of the eventual restoration. Via a live narrated Zoom PowerPoint presentation followed by a Q&A period, this course focuses on the treatment-planning, technical, and maintenance aspects of implant surgery which can mean the difference between durable success and deteriorating failure.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Be aware of how periodontal and peri-implant health affect long-term implant stability
- Be aware of how the position and angulation of an implant affect long-term implant stability
- Be aware of how maintenance protocols affect long-term implant stability
- Be aware of what you can do to manage these various phases of implantology, regardless of whether they’re placing the implant, restoring the implant, or both
Meet the Speaker:
Dr. Sam Malkinson, DMD, Cert Perio, Dip ABP, FRCD(c)
Dr. Sam Malkinson graduated from McGill’s Faculty of Dentistry in 2007, and went on to do an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the University of Connecticut, followed by a General Practice Residency at the University of British Columbia. He then pursued a specialty in Periodontics at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also earned his Master’s degree for his thesis concerning the effects of aesthetic crown lengthening on social perceptions. Having returned to Montreal in 2012, he is in full-time private practice limited to periodontics and implantology.
