Course Description: Given that 1 in 5 dental patients are classified as medically complex, there is a need for dental health professionals who are comfortable and competent to treat medical emergencies that occur in the dental office effectively and efficiently. Through the support of a grant from the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation, you are invited to be part of an innovative research project that involves learning how to manage medical emergencies in the dental office through use of high-fidelity mannequins AT NO CHARGE! This course will include lecture material only, no hands-on practice with manikins will be offered. This course is free, but attendance is limited. Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to:
- Discuss the value of patient interviewing to prevent medical emergencies
- Identify strategies to manage common medical emergencies in the dental office
- Teach these strategies to clinic and office colleagues
