The Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program Level 2 (CCIP Level 2), formerly the Advanced CCIP) is designed for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants who want to further develop their clinical teaching skills and construct a clinical curriculum. Using a case-based and interactive approach to education, this program will provide participants with the essential knowledge and skill to more effectively teach and mentor students in the context of a doctoring profession, across core areas of contemporary professional education and clinical practice that foster best clinical teaching. The program’s unique philosophy and design both applies and goes beyond the concepts of the APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor Level 1 Program (CCIP Level 1) to l enable clinical educators to achieve the best outcomes for student learning.
The program is divided into three distinct parts:
- Pre-course assignments that include reading four articles and completing three of the online Professionalism Modules.
- Advanced clinical instructor education via an interactive face-to-face course format that is appropriate to all physical therapist clinical educators;
- Assessment (credentialing) of curricula outcomes through an Assessment Center to apply information from the ACCIP.
These components are used together to first provide, and then assess, the knowledge and skill identified as essential for Advanced CIs.
Intended audience: Physical Therapists or Physical Therapist Assistants who have completed the APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor Level 1 Program (CCIP Level 1) and have supervised at least one student in clinical practice, overseen the supervision of at least one student in clinical practice, or have been actively involved in student learning and education since becoming credentialed. As with the CCIP Level 1, eligible clinicians from other health care professions are welcome to participate and can earn CEUs for the program, although they will not be APTA credentialed.
