Laser is changing the way dentistry is viewed and practiced. Join us as we explore the value of laser assisted hygiene and its relationship to tissue healing as well as discuss the patient’s perception and expectations of lasers. In this comprehensive, hands-on clinical workshop participants will learn the adjunctive use of laser as a component of periodontal therapy and as a tool for risk management. Working with simulation exercises, detailed instrumentation photography and video, this course will allow practitioners to build clinical skills, confidence, and an understanding of periodontal treatment protocols using soft tissue dental lasers.
- Discuss the science of laser wavelengths and their absorption characteristics.
- Discuss the adjunctive use of laser in periodontal therapy and recall risk management.
- Apply clinical techniques and methods associated with laser disinfection and laser sulcular debridement.
- Identify the variables of laser energy protocols as they apply to the treatment of gingivitis, chronic, and aggressive periodontitis.
- Interpret tissue interaction when exposed to “warm” and “hot” laser settings and describe techniques to obtain optimum clinical results.
- Describe the specifics of initiated and bare fiber tip applications.
- Determine clinical decisions and laser treatment protocols.
This course includes lecture and hands-on components and is in compliance with Arizona Administrative Code R4-11-601-H. Licensed participants will be eligible to use soft tissue lasers in Arizona clinical practice upon course completion.
